Equipment: All you will need is your basic scuba gear.

Prerequisites: PADI Open Water Diver, minimum 10 logged dives, 18 yrs of age or older.

Tec 40 - If you're interested in technical diving, but haven't yet met the prerequisites for the PADI Tec 50 or Tec 45 course, you can consider the PADI Tec 40 course. It is the first subdivision of the full PADI Tec Deep Diver course and consists of the first four dives. Because you can do one of these diving in confined water (such as a swimming pool), many divers start the Tec 40 course in the winter months, ready to continue in open water when spring arrives. You will learn to use decompression software and dive computers to plan and make decompression dives with no more than 10 minutes of total decompression and not deeper than 40 metres/130 feet. You will also use a single cylinder of decompression gas with up to 50 percent oxygen to add conservatism to the required decompression. This training credits towards the Tec 45 & 50 courses.

Equipment: You will use recreational scuba equipment with some minor additions to enhance your ability to deal with tec diving conditions.

Learning materials: You will need the PADI Tec Deep Diver Crew Pak.

Price: $200/diver for private session or $150/diver in group (2-3) per session. This course consists of 4 sessions. Each session includes knowledge development, practical application and a dive. Sessions have specific performance requirements and are performance based.

Prerequisites: PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, PADI Enriched Air Diver, PADI Deep Diver, minimum of 50 logged dives with at least 10 using EAN, 12 deeper than 18m/60ft, and 6 deeper than 30m/100ft, and a medical signed by a physician.

Tec 45 - The Tec 45 course picks up where the Tec 40 leaves off and takes your training as a tec diver further and deeper. It is the second subcourse in the full PADI Tec Diver course.

You will learn the skills, equipment and planning needed to dive to a max depth of 45m/145ft. The knowledge to plan and execute single and repetitive decompression dives using a single stage cylinder of EAN or oxygen to accelerate or add conservatism to the decompression stops. There is no time limit to the amount of decompression. You will also prepare for and respond to foreseeable technical diving emergencies. and master teh basic skills and procedures you'll need as you move into deeper technical diving.
